Hi, I am Elaine, the founder of Counting Sheep Sleep Consultancy.
I am a mother of two young girls living in Amsterdam. I can certainly relate to many families' sleep struggles. I used a sleep coach myself. I felt annoyed that I could not get my daughter to sleep a whole night without her waking many times. I had been a secondary school teacher for 10 years. I thought I should be able to solve my child's challenges myself. How difficult could it be? My friend used a sleep coach and recommended I try one.
Within a week of working with the coach my daughter slept through the night. The results were amazing. My child slept 12 hours a night and was happier in the daytime. I got my energy back, my confidence as a parent back, I got my evenings back and I no longer dreaded bedtimes. The whole family was happy!
I decided I wanted to use my experience and skill set of working with people as a teacher and begin a new challenge. I enrolled on the Certified Dana Obleman Sleep Sense Programme. I am now a successful infant sleep consultant and run my own business.
My goal is simple: I want to help all the family enjoy a full night's sleep with a little support from me! It really does work!

What I do!
I work with families who are ready to make a commitment to follow tried and tested methods. I coach, guide and support parents step-by-step to teach their infant or toddler how to sleep through the night independently. The coaching always starts with a focus on the bedtime routine and making small alterations.
Parents can also expect to learn about the importance of sleep and what their child needs. This helps to develop parents' confidence to support their child through the coaching process. When parents trust me and the method, and are consistent with their child’s bedtime routine, families will achieve their sleep goals.
I cannot say it is a cry free process. Crying is one of the ways children communicate their needs. But I do not follow the 'leave your baby to cry out’ method. I use gentle proven strategies for teaching your child to sleep through the night tailored to your child's sleep needs. I offer a range of packages to meet your family's sleep needs.

The Lamb Package provides 1:1 coaching to solve a range of common sleep problems families frequently encounter with children aged from four months to six years old. This package provides support Monday to Friday, and comprises the following:
- A 15 minute consultation by phone.
- Questionnaire to provide a detailed evaluation of your child’s sleep habits, daily routine and the challenges you are facing.
- Phone call to discuss the questionnaire responses. Using this information to decide what sleep method will work best for your child.
- Using the Sleep Sense methods, a customised gentle sleep plan will be created that is tailored to your child’s sleep needs, developmental stage and your families goals.
- 60 minute Facetime or Zoom call to implement the personalised plan that has been created for your child.
- Daily review of the sleep log Monday to Friday.
- Four 15 minute phone calls.
- A 15 minute closing call when we have completed the coaching.
- Support for two - three weeks depending on your child’s development age, (Typically 2 weeks for children under 36 months and up to three weeks for older children).
- Handouts to support your child’s sleep goals in the future - sleep / wake windows, nap transitions, daylight savings and what to do during illness.
This package may be more suitable than ‘The Lamb Package’ for families who want contact every day with Elaine especially if parents are feeling nervous about starting the coaching process and would like to feel more confident implementing the plan; knowing they can talk to Elaine 7 days a week.
This package is also required if you want to coach several children at the same time.
The package includes everything in The Lamb Package plus:
- Daily review of the sleep log seven days a week through WhatsApp, Messenger or text.
- Two additional 15 minute phone calls to be used during the coaching period.
The Flock package is for families who would like to coach several children at the same time, and is available as an addition to The Lamb Package or The Big Sheep Package.
For each additional child the cost is €195.

This service is for previous clients who have completed a full package and have found themselves with a new sleep issue or need some advice about any of their child’s changing sleep related needs, such as advice about a new schedule, or they need reassurance about changes they are planning to make to their child’s routine, such as returning to work or maybe transitioning their child from a cot to a bed.
Schedule a 1 hour or 30 minute consultation with me. If you do not use all the time on the call, your minutes can be saved and used at a later time.

It’s a wise decision to teach your baby healthy sleep habits right from the beginning of his or her life, and to know what to expect in the first few months. The Spring Lamb package will educate parents on the importance of sleep, the science of sleep, the development needs of a newborn, and what simple methods and routines you can use to establish healthy sleep habits.
This package comprises:
- A 30 minute interactive presentation.
- A 15 minute follow-up call.
- A copy of the presentation with all the vital information you need for your newborn baby's sleep.
